The Disciple Now Podcast

Welcome to the ”Disciple Now” podcast, where we study the Book of Mark in an effort to better understand Jesus’ teachings and how we can apply them in our own lives as we seek to make disciples. Each month we will have a reading of the Scripture with a challenge at the end of the reading, and we will rejoin two weeks from the reading to discuss key lessons we can take from the passages of Scripture, exploring the context, themes, and implications for Christian living. Our goal is to learn from Jesus’ examples and apply His lessons as we seek to follow in His footsteps and share His message with others. Whether you’re a seasoned Christian or new to the faith, we believe you’ll find something of value in our discussions. We hope you’ll join us on this journey of discipleship as we seek to grow in our faith and share it with others.

Do You Still Have No Faith?
Friday Apr 07, 2023
Friday Apr 07, 2023
This Holy Friday we are reading from Mark 4:26-41 where Jesus uses parables to describe the Word and the Kingdom of God. The key takeaway is that as the Word of God increases in our life, our faith grows, allowing us to develop our spiritual maturity. As disciples of Christ, we have been called to live to a higher standard, extending beyond cultural standards and leaping into the standards of the Spirit.
Believers must take accountability for their spiritual growth, not relying on the flawed nature of biblical figures as an excuse for stagnancy. The parable of the seed shows that we are the sowers, and God is the Source that develops the Word in a person, allowing it to grow.

Discipling to Nurture the Faith in Others
Friday Mar 24, 2023
Friday Mar 24, 2023
In this podcast episode, we explore a key lesson on discipling others based on the parable of the sower from Mark 4:3-9. As disciples, we need to understand that people receive the word at different stages of their faith journey. Some may not understand it, some may receive it with joy but not have a strong foundation, while others may be distracted by worldly worries and desires. Our role is to provide good seed and nurture whatever faith sprouts up, but it is the Holy Spirit's job to grow the seed.
Furthermore, we need to be transparent and vulnerable about our own lives, living in our truth and admitting our mistakes. As disciples, we are called to a higher standard, and living in truth is better than carrying the burden of maintaining a lie. Our lives as disciples should serve as an example for others, and we should always strive to live in obedience to God's will over our lives without fear of being ostracized from the world.
