The Disciple Now Podcast
Welcome to the ”Disciple Now” podcast, where we study the Book of Mark in an effort to better understand Jesus’ teachings and how we can apply them in our own lives as we seek to make disciples. Each month we will have a reading of the Scripture with a challenge at the end of the reading, and we will rejoin two weeks from the reading to discuss key lessons we can take from the passages of Scripture, exploring the context, themes, and implications for Christian living. Our goal is to learn from Jesus’ examples and apply His lessons as we seek to follow in His footsteps and share His message with others. Whether you’re a seasoned Christian or new to the faith, we believe you’ll find something of value in our discussions. We hope you’ll join us on this journey of discipleship as we seek to grow in our faith and share it with others.

In this episode of the Disciple Now podcast, we delve into Mark chapter 11, exploring its profound lessons on faith, prophecy, and righteousness. We begin by examining Jesus’ fulfillment of the prophecy in Zechariah about the humble king, emphasizing his role as a peaceful Messiah contrary to the expectations of a warrior king. This illustrates Jesus' adherence to prophecy and his example of humility and peace. Additionally, we reflect on the symbolic act of Jesus cursing the fig tree, which represents the denouncement of unfruitful believers and highlights the importance of genuine faith and visible spiritual fruits. We also explore the themes of belief without doubt, exemplified by Jesus' teaching that faith can move mountains. The episode emphasizes the significance of maintaining a true relationship with Christ beyond mere appearances. Lastly, we cover the critical lesson of forgiveness as taught by Jesus, stressing the necessity to forgive others as a reflection of our own forgiveness by God. Join us as we unpack these lessons aimed at encouraging disciples to live a faith-filled life marked by belief, fruitfulness, and forgiveness.
